Laiki Geitonia is a refurbished neighborhood surrounded by the Venetian Walls which date back to the 1570s. The area has been carefully restored architectually and provides a nice place for pedestrians to walk, shop and eat.

Above right: The Cyprus Museum, built in 1883, has a remarkable collection ranging from ancient terracottas to sculptures. It is planned to replace this building in the near future.

Lefkosia - Nicosia has been the capital of Cyprus since the 10th century AD. In 1963, it was split into Greek and Turkish sectors maintained by the Green Line and UN forces. The pictures here were taken on the Greek side of this divided city. Greek Lefkosia consists of a modern city that is built right up to the historical sections.
